Latest Pricing for Toyota Vios

Toyota Vios is another popular ride in Malaysia, besides Honda City being its closest rival. Both is running on a 1500cc engine.

Just received the latest pricing for the newly launch Toyota Vios in Malaysia (RM3.40 = USD 1)

VIOS 1.5S – RM88,600 (USD 26,059)
VIOS 1.5G – RM85,300 (USD 25,088)
VIOS 1.5E – RM79,200 (USD 23,294)

Don’t be surprised if the above prices is even more expensive than a Toyota Camry (in US). This is indeed a very odd situation happening in Malaysia.

    Hi Jonathan,

If you want to boost the performance of your Toyota Vios -

    1) Get a Toyota Vios Turbocharged’s engine 1NZ-FE from Thailand (which comes with manual transmission), though it is running on light boost pressure, nevertheless it still produce 143hp at 6400rpm and 196Nm of torque at 4400rpm. 0-100km/h in 8.1 seconds. But, it is a limited edition with only less than 1000 units been produced.

    2) Change to this engine 2ZR-FE naturally aspirated (Inline-4 DOHC 16 Valve 1.8 liter Dual VVT-i)
    136hp (101kW) at 6000rpm and 175Nm of torque at 4400rpm/

FYI, this engine is equipped in Toyota Yaris T-Sport which was launched in 2007. Both the Toyota Yaris and Toyota Vios is sharing the same platform.

In terms of costs, it would be wise to budget around RM6-10k for a complete engine conversion and the replacement of all the necessary parts, oils change and JPJ registration. Not to mention that you might need to consider upgrading your suspension and handling to take in the extra horsepower gain by going for an engine conversion.
